Where the Neelum Valley is
The Neelum River flows into Pakistan-administered Kashmir from the Gurez Valley and joins the Jhelum at Muzaffarabad. The valley is about 144 km long, between roughly 1,200 and 2,300 metres above sea level, with peaks around it over 5,000 metres.
Safety
The Line of Control runs through the valley, and some villages have seen cross-border firing in the past. Travel with an agency that knows the current situation, and follow local advice on how far up the valley to go.
